Pernik is situated among high mountains and fields of the Middle West Bulgaria. an area of 20 269.8 square meters, covering six municipalities - Pernik, Radomir, Breznik, Tran, Zemen and Kovachevci. At the beginning of IX century Slavic village with a small mnogoletna story is included within the Danube Bulgaria. Most likely, since its creation, named Pernik (iris, Perinik).
